This is a great holiday recipe and an awesome component to a nice family dinner. It offers a wonderful smell while cooking and great colour to the table when served.
- Combine all ingredients in a large pot and cook on low for about 3 hours stirring occasionally. Remove the cinnamon sticks, and serve.
- You can add 1 cup of shredded carrots and parsnips to add some depth of flavour.
- Add 1 litre of extra broth and then once cooking is finished add to a blender or food processor and puree. Now you have a wonderful soup.
