Nanaimo, BC (November 21st, 2008) – Country Grocer Chase River Nanaimo location is hosting a Friday Food Bank Drive in support of Loaves and Fishes Food Bank.
On Friday December 5th, 2008 from 10am-6pm, Country Grocer, the Wave and the Wolf radio stations and Newcastle Nissan invite customers to the Country Grocer Chase River location to donate items to the food bank.
“Our goal is to fill a Newcastle Nissan Titan full of food bank friendly items”, says Director Peter Cavin. “We understand the need for food is even greater this year due to the economic uncertainty so we decided to ask our customers for help.”
Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank is a voluntary community agency, dependent on the generosity and caring of Nanaimo to be successful in their work. They strive to provide a modest supplement of food to individuals and families in need, once a week, all year long.
Currently they are providing an average of 3,000 adult survival bags and 1000 family bag supplements each month. Your donations help 400 children each week. This is an increase of over 10% from last year; represents a need for $15,000 in purchased food and $25,000 of donated food each and every month.
Their ability to make a difference in the lives of children, men and women depends on generous donations during this season of celebration and giving.Back to Media
