Nanaimo, BC (October 21st, 2008) – Effective October 26th, 2008 Food Country will change its name to Country Grocer with a grand opening of a brand new store in Chase River.
“The realignment of the company’s operations will better support the customers’ needs and is an appropriate name for the company” says Director Peter Cavin.
Country Grocer uses local resources and provides a comfortable environment to shop in, high quality products in every department, competitive pricing, friendly helpful staff that is committed to helping make customers’ experience a great one every time they visit. The chain believes in purchasing local products as much as possible and providing groceries to its customers the traditional way.
“The new store will have the same owners and familiar team members from Food Country. I am confident our customers will love the new modern facility which is in line with the other Country Grocer stores”, says Director Wally Large.
The store officially opens at 7 am and welcomes customers to come in and see the new store.
Grand opening festivities will be occurring at a later date.
The new store will have a 39,000 square foot ground floor shopping area and a 2,000 square foot enclosed outdoor selling area that runs all the way along the front of the building (which will be used for display and sale of things like local in season produce). There is also a 6000 square foot mezzanine level that will house the offices, staff rooms and a 700 square foot meeting room for local community use.
The new store features a huge produce department that features many organics, a full service meat and fish counter, a full scratch bakery where everything is made on site, a deli and in store café featuring freshly made soups, sandwiches and local organic Creekmore coffee from Qualicum Beach.
