Country Grocer shows their Canadian Pride and launches the first annual EatCanadian promotion!

Country Grocer is working with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) to make it easier for shoppers at our
stores to identify and buy top-quality Canadian food products

AAFC recently launched a new initiative promoting Canadian food products to Canadian Consumers in 65 stores across the country before Canada Day, including here on Vancouver Island at six(6)Country Grocer stores.

Beginning June 17, 2012 Country Grocer will be using signs, shelf displays, stickers, brochures and other printed
material to help customers at their stores learn more about Canadian food products and help them find these products on the store shelves. The promotional event will also be featured in store flyers and on the company website

The initiative has been expanded after a successful 2011 pilot project conducted in Newfoundland and Labrador,
Ontario and British Columbia that clearly identified Canadian products in a select group of stores. Sales of the
featured Canadian food products went up significantly, showing that consumers prefer to buy Canadian products
if they can easily identify them

The pilot increased consumer awareness of the excellence of food products from Canadian producers and processors, leading to an overall increase of sales for those products promoted as Canadian during the pilots
